In an interview with the New York Times, “Papercuts” creator, writer, and director Sam Golin discussed his newest film, the latest Kickstarter project, and the future of the medium.

“Papercut” is a “very, very personal” film.
“We wanted to do something different,” Golin told the Times.
“I don’t think we’ve ever done anything so personal to our characters.
The characters are real people.
They’re the characters that we create.
And we’re so aware of that.”2.
“What we were trying to do was be more human,” he said.
“Our characters are human beings, and we want to make them feel like that.”3.
“A lot of my favorite movies are from the 70s, and I think that’s when I was growing up,” Gollin said.4.
“You can’t really tell that in a movie, and then we were like, ‘Well, we can’t tell it.
Let’s make it something more.’
It just made sense.”5.
“This film is about the power of storytelling.
If you want to know more about storytelling, you need to go back to the 70’s and the 80s.
And that’s where we started,” he added.6.
“It’s a very human film, and that’s what it’s about.”7.
“The characters have a story,” Gomer told the newspaper.
“And that story is about people and how they feel and how the world feels.
It’s a story about love, it’s a love story.
It has a real depth.”8.
“When you have an idea of who someone is, and you don’t really know their past, you don, like, know what their problems are,” Golinsaid.
“So this film is kind of about that.
We’re talking about who we are and where we’re coming from, and it’s not all that complicated.
It is a film about being human.”9.
“My favorite film is ‘The Deer Hunter,'” he added, referencing a 1974 movie by director John Ford, about a hunter who hunts deer in a rural area.
“That film is the greatest movie ever made.
And it’s very human.”10.
“There’s a real desire to tell stories in this world,” he told the paper.
“People have been trying to tell their stories for years, and there are so many people who don’t have that story.”11.
“Because we’re in a moment right now where we have so much information, we need to be able to create something that is very intimate, that is like real.
We need to tell it with your hands.
And then you need people to go in and see it for themselves.
That’s what we’re trying to create.”12.
“As a filmmaker, I think the way to do it is just to do the best you can.
It isn’t always about the money.
Sometimes it’s also about the story,” he continued.
“For me, I don’t like to spend all my money, and if we do, the film doesn’t feel right.
