Walgens, the Walgreen’s, is launching a new print and ink service, Photo Printing, that will be available in stores, starting Tuesday.
The company, which is already one of Canada’s largest photo printing companies, said it plans to roll out the service in 10 to 12 locations over the next 12 to 18 months.
The service will feature the ability to order an image by email or text and then print it, either directly onto paper or onto a scanner, the company said.
The printer will use a Canon digital imaging camera that can capture and print images, which will then be uploaded to the company’s cloud storage.
The retailer will also offer a dedicated photo storage account for its customers, the service said.
“The photo printing capabilities of the Photo Printing service will enable us to offer the most comprehensive photo printing experience in our stores and on our website,” Walgarts CEO John Lott said in a news release.
“As an established retailer, we want our customers to be able to access our product more easily, as well as share photos and videos with their friends and family.”
Walgreen said the service will initially focus on the United States and Canada.
The photo printing is part of a broader digital ink and printing initiative that Walgos, Walgoprint, launched in November.
The Canadian online retailer plans to launch the service worldwide in spring 2018.
The U.S. retailer is expected to launch a new service in the coming months.
